Event Overview
Cave Exploration is a movement-based event where you roll dice to move across a board and trigger different events depending on the tiles you pass or land on.
The event includes several important systems:
- Exploration Dice: Used to move across the board randomly
- Selective Dice: Allows you to choose exactly how many grids to move
- Exploration Points: Used for both Progress Rewards and the Point Store
- Cave Creatures: Solo monster fights that require Toxic Bait
- Cave Creature Boss: Rally Crab Spiders that give capped daily rewards
- Bonus Tiles: Such as Toxic Bait, Exploration Dice, Enigma Shells, and Rapid Advance
While the event has several side systems, the main rewards are obtained by collecting Exploration Points and spending them in the Point Store.
1. Points per Exploration Dice
To estimate the cost of reaching different point milestones, we calculated the average Points per Exploration Dice using data from multiple players.
Across 2,090 Exploration Dice, we observed a total of 43,384 Points, resulting in an average of ~20.76 Points per Exploration Dice.
For simplicity, we will use:
1 Exploration Dice = 20.5 points
This makes calculations easier while staying slightly conservative.
Note:
- High RNG variance (some players get lucky streaks)
- Exploration Dice drops can significantly affect results
- We will use 20.5 points per Exploration Dice as baseline
- We will value Exploration Dice and Selective Dice similarly, since you will usually use Selective Dice to target rewards that are a specific number of grids away.
2. Points Milestones
In this event, players are usually aiming for one of these point milestones:
| Points |

- Lowest price Exploration Packs are the most efficient in terms of Dice per Dollar, but are limited in the number of Dice they offer.
- The $5 and $10 Insect Packs are similar in Dice per Dollar to the $50 Exploration Packs, while also offering some orange insects.
- The price of the Selective Dice becomes extremely expensive after the $1 Selective Pack.
4. Costs to Reach Each Milestone
Using the calculations above, we can estimate the cost for each of the point milestones. Costs are approximate and may vary slightly depending on RNG.
4.1 200/400/600 Points
Cost: Free (you get ~800–950 points naturally depending on RNG)
This allows you to comfortably reach the required points for a 3-Star Orange Insect, Small Mutation Chest or Primary Forages as a free player.
4.2 3600 Points
Total Cost: ~$126 (you need approximately 176 Exploration Dice)
How you reach 3600 points:
- 15 Exploration Dice From Activity Points
- 30 Exploration Dice From Diamonds
- 30 Exploration Dice – Five × $5 Exploration Packs ($25)
- 60 Exploration Dice – Five × $10 Exploration Packs ($50)
- 16 Exploration Dice – Four × $5 Insect Packs ($20)
- 24 Exploration Dice – Three × $10 Insect Packs ($30)
- 1 Selective Dice – One × $1 Selective Pack ($1)
Total: 176 Exploration Dice → $126
4.3 6000 Points
Total Cost: ~$275 (you need approximately 293 Exploration Dice)
This is the first major premium reward milestone.
How you reach 6000 Points:
- 15 Exploration Dice From Activity Points
- 30 Exploration Dice From Diamonds
- 30 Exploration Dice – Five × $5 Exploration Packs ($25)
- 60 Exploration Dice – Five × $10 Exploration Packs ($50)
- 120 Exploration Dice – Three × $50 Exploration Pack ($150)
- 16 Exploration Dice – Four × $5 Insect Packs ($20)
- 24 Exploration Dice – Three × $10 Insect Packs ($30)
Total: 295 Exploration Dice → $275
4.4 12000 Points
Total Cost: ~$570 (you need approximately 586 Exploration Dice)
How you reach 12000 Points:
- 15 Exploration Dice From Activity Points
- 30 Exploration Dice From Diamonds
- 24 Exploration Dice – Four × $5 Exploration Packs ($20)
- 60 Exploration Dice – Five × $10 Exploration Packs ($50)
- 360 Exploration Dice – Nine × $50 Exploration Pack ($450)
- 16 Exploration Dice – Four × $5 Insect Packs ($20)
- 24 Exploration Dice – Three × $10 Insect Packs ($30)
- 60 Exploration Dice – 9,000 Point Milestone reward
Total: 589 Exploration Dice → $570
5. How the Event Works
Once you understand the cost, here is how the event mechanics work:
5.1 Cave Exploration
This is the main part of the event.
Each move consumes 1 Exploration Dice, and the number rolled determines how many grids you move. You can also use Selective Dice to choose exactly how many grids to move, making them useful for targeting specific tiles.
Different grids trigger different events depending on whether you pass through them or land on them.
Important:
- Passing the 100 Exploration Points tile gives you 100 points immediately
- You do not need to stop on that tile to obtain the points
This is one of the most important mechanics in the event, because it increases the value of movement even when you do not land exactly where you want.
5.2 Cave Creatures
This event is triggered when you pass through a Cave Creatures tile.
These are solo monster fights that must be challenged by you alone.
To challenge a Cave Creature:
- You must consume 1 Toxic Bait
- Defeating it gives a random reward
- Each challenge reduces the Cave Creature’s health
If you trigger a Cave Creature but do not want to fight it immediately, you can check it later through the monster list within 24 hours of triggering the creature.
This makes Cave Creatures a useful bonus reward system tied to both movement and Toxic Baits.
5.3 Cave Creature Bosses
This event is triggered when you land on the Rally Creatures tile. It is also known as the Crab Spider.
Unlike normal Cave Creatures, the Cave Creature Boss must be:
- placed on the map
- rallied with allies
- defeated together
All rally participants receive rewards for defeating the boss.
Daily Reward Limit:
- Up to 8 hunting rewards
- Up to 2 additional rewards
These rewards reset daily, so active players should try not to waste their daily boss opportunities.
5.4 Toxic Bait
This event is triggered when you land on the Toxic Bait tile.
When triggered, you immediately obtain Toxic Bait, which is used to challenge Cave Creatures.
Since Cave Creatures can provide extra rewards, Toxic Bait is an important side resource in the event.
5.5 Rapid Advance
This event is triggered when you land on the Rapid Advance tile.
Once triggered, you immediately move 3 additional grids forward, and the event on the new tile will also trigger.
This can help you progress faster, but because it changes your route unexpectedly, it can also make the board more RNG-dependent.
5.6 Exploration Dice Tile
This event is triggered when you land on the Exploration Dice tile.
When triggered, you immediately obtain 1 Exploration Dice.
This helps offset some of your movement cost and slightly improves overall efficiency.
5.7 Enigma Shell Tile
This event is triggered when you land on the Enigma Shells tile.
When triggered, you receive a random reward from a pool that may include:
- Orange Insect Egg
- Kiwi Honeydew
- Insect Fodder
- Spore
- Honeydew
- Creature Remains
This is a pure bonus reward tile and does not directly give Exploration Points.
5.8 Exploration Points Tile
This event is triggered when you land on an Exploration Points tile.
When triggered, you immediately receive a certain amount of Exploration Points.
Exploration Points are the main scoring currency of the event and are used for two things:
- unlocking Progress Rewards
- redeeming items in the Point Store
Important:
Redeeming points in the Point Store does not affect your Progress Rewards.
That means Exploration Points provide value in two different ways, making them the most important resource in the event.
5.9 Point Store
All points are spent here.
Key Rewards:
- 6,000 → premium rewards (insects, skins, etc.)
- 3,600 → older generation rewards
- Lower tiers → filler rewards
Important:
- Store does NOT reset during event
- Points expire after event ends
6. Key Takeaways
Cave Exploration is a board-style event where your total points scale with how many Exploration Dice you use, but results can vary depending on RNG and which tiles you trigger. Over larger numbers of dice, results tend to average out, making total points more predictable.
How You Gain Points:
- Passing the 100 Exploration Points tile
- Landing on Exploration Points tiles
Bonus Systems (Extra Rewards, Not Direct Points):
- Cave Creatures → random rewards using Toxic Bait
- Cave Creature Bosses / Crab Spiders → capped daily rally rewards
- Enigma Shells → bonus loot
- Exploration Dice / Toxic Bait tiles → extra event resources
